5 Self-care Rituals I Incorporate Into My Daily Life, That Pay Off In My Business Results Explained

The theme that comes up often, in my one-on-one coaching and consulting sessions with private clients, is the notion around having the emotional, physical, and intellectual reserves to lead your company. This theme gets me thinking about the self-care rituals that I incorporate into my daily life, that pay off in my business results.

In the last few weeks, I’ve heard client stories of business owners sleeping through alarm clocks, having recurring health issues, experiencing exhaustion due to business travel, loss of motivational drive, suffering from lack of sleep, anxiety, and depression.

Believe me, I’ve been there myself. I’m guilty of all of the above. I get it.

And that’s why I want to ask you something:

  1. How do you do self-care?
  2. How do you build up your emotional, physical, and intellectual reserves to lead your company?

For me, it has been a process, of fundamentally changing every aspect of how I take care of self – emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually, nutritionally, and energetically.

It’s an ongoing process that requires as much dedication to my business health as it does to my personal health.

Here are 5 self-care rituals I incorporate into my daily life, that pay off in my business results:

  1. Quiet Time.Taking 30 minutes at the beginning of the day and at the end of the day to sit in silence on my yoga mat or in the bathtub. The morning is used for intention setting and goal-casting and the evening is used for reflection and letting go.
  2. Physical Movement. Moving my body on a daily basis even just for 20 minutes clears the cobwebs out of my brain; yoga, walking or biking.
  3. Nutritional Health. Eating unprocessed, organic, non-toxic and whole foods keeps me fueled up and feeling good. Eating three meals a day, with intention – and staying hydrated.
  4. Rest and Rejuvenation. Sleeping a minimum of 8 hours per night, and taking periodic breaks throughout the day to stop what I’m doing. Having an uninterrupted cup of tea or sitting on the deck watching the birds.
  5. Emotional Processing. Moving emotions through your body on a daily and weekly basis, so they don’t get stuck there, take up residence and cause health issues. Journaling, talking with a supportive friend, coach or mentor.

So, how do YOU do self-care?
