My name is Michela, and I’m a recovering overthinker.
The external noise is deafening, but the internal noise feels more destructive.
Maybe it’s because many people disconnect from the here and now by losing themselves in constant hectic thoughts, being entangled in the past or driven by the future, and being caught up in the stress and pressure from the outside world.
When we’re trapped in our head, in the thinking mind, it’s like an addictive drug. We love to think, and so we think and think some more — never quite figuring out the answer to the question, and so we think even harder.
When we are enthralled by the thoughts that whirl and churn in our heads, we become a prisoner of our minds.
If you’re trapped in your head, there is a feeling of being lost, being stuck; loneliness and isolation; a lack of meaning and the inability to make sense of things, which is scary. And that fear drives us back to doing what’s easy, what is a known quantity.
Analysis paralysis triggers new and established business owners to quit before the magic happens. Or to second guess their path.
Some of my clients have told me they’ve often fantasized about packing in their business and spending the rest of their days “driving a bus,” “running a tiki hut on the beach,” or “getting a J.O.B.”
These are new and established, high-achieving, super smart women who lead successful 6-7+ figures businesses. I’m not talking about struggling start-ups (although it happens with them too.)
The fear-monger that lives in your head is never relieved, and you keep it alive with breadcrumbs fed by your mental activity.
You only create more barriers against life and business when you mainly live in your head because so many judgments are located in the head about what should, or can or might be.
You want to bring order and control to situations, and you grasp and strive — all from the head.
As a result of living from your head, you try so hard to prove that you are worth being loved that you overlook who you are.
Only when you stand with yourself and be who you are as a soul having a human experience, with all the insecurities and uncertainties that are part of the human mind, can you be at home and one with your true essence.
And then, you don’t need to prove yourself.
Instead, you remember who you are.
