Meet Michela

When you Feel the Resistance to Change, ask yourself this One Question

One day, I walked into a Spanish bistro. What happened that night changed the course of my life, and I never would have imagined it then. Picture a cozy, intimate space with 10 tables or so. In the middle of the room was a 3ft x 3ft wooden box, and as it turned out that evening we would be entertained by a flamenco dance group; a quadro. Flamenco is the song of the outcasts, authenticity of emotion and ultimate self-expression.

As the Spanish dancer stood up and approached the dance floor I could feel the confidence emanating from her body. She was grounded in her strength. She made eye contact with each of us in the room and drank us in. She started to dance and something woke up inside of me. This woman was commanding the room with her power and her presence, and I wanted to be like her. That’s what I wanted. She was confident; she had authority. She was like a majestic Oak tree, and I wanted that. She transformed the room with her presence. She captivated me! A fire was building up inside of me that I couldn’t contain.

Has that ever happened to you? You see or experience something that is so inspiring that it jumpstarts you into action? Have you wanted something so badly, that you would do anything to get it? That’s how I felt, watching her. Seeing her gave me the permission to do that for myself.

And now back to you…

What do YOU want?

What do you want so badly that every time you think of it you get a fire in your belly, a whisper in your heart, or a surge of excitement?

What do you need to give yourself permission to do, in order to get what you want, in order to be who you already are and do what your heart desires?

If you’re not feeling at least a little bit scared or uncomfortable about what you want, then you might not be dreaming big enough. Because the reality is:

If the outcome of reaching your vision doesn’t outweigh the risk – you won’t do it.

Take a minute to write down what comes up for you.

Most people talk a lot about what they don’t want – this is a bad habit. I hear people say things like, “I don’t want to work so hard… I don’t want to feel so overwhelmed… I don’t want to do marketing.”

Are you familiar with Beckard’s formula for change?

The formula states that in order for change to happen, there needs to be a palpable dissatisfaction (or desire), coupled with a clear vision and tangible first steps – and when multiplied together, the outcome must be greater than the resistance to change – otherwise change will not happen.

The thing is that the majority of people don’t like change, BUT if the need for the outcome is greater than the fear of the change, then the risk is worth it and you WILL DO IT!

So the only real question for you is: What do You WANT?

If you are spinning in your own mind of infinite possibilities and you aren’t sure how to clearly articulate what you want, then I encourage you to reach out to me to get a fresh perspective.

When I work with my clients, one of the things they appreciate about me is my ability to be their mirror and to reflect back to them what they cannot see for themselves. As a business owner, being trapped inside of your own perspective can leave you feeling ill equipped to recognize problems and come up with solutions. Sometimes you might feel like you can’t see the forest for the trees, or you’ve lost perspective of what’s important. Reach out to me for your no obligation consultation and I will guide you to tap into your own sense of clarity.
