It’s too easy to be swept along by life’s circumstances and to become reactionary rather than intentional. It feels safer to stay in our comfort zone and hide our authentic selves, rather than take steps toward our big vision. It takes courage and determination to be the creator of our destiny, to take personal responsibility for what we think, and be accountable for who we need to become.
If I had accepted my fate as a child with a speech impediment, precipitating a fear of speaking, lack of self-worth, and no self-confidence, I would be living with my parents, on disability insurance, and not fulfilling my life’s mission.
I would have robbed myself of the opportunity for growth and healing, and I would have been regretful for not creating a different reality.
It took me many years to piece my story together and many more years to finally find my voice to tell it. And as I continue to walk my purpose, additional layers of my story get revealed.
If we don’t listen to that quiet voice inside of us or act on our intuitive promptings, the voice only gets louder, and the signposts become bigger.

Embrace your unique story to stand out from the crowd; this is a powerful lesson for new (or even established) business owners. Here is a 9-step process to clarify your message and align your marketing communication to who you are to attract the right clients and collaborators for your business.
Step 1: Know your Why. This is an essential question that all successful business owners must be able to answer.
Step 2: Your Story Matters. Your unique background will appeal to your ideal client in a way that no one else’s will.
Step 3: Write your Mission Statement. Potential customers should be able to read your mission statement and immediately know whether or not you’re a good fit.
Step 4: Craft your Unique Offer. Determining your “USP”—or Unique Selling Proposition that differentiates you from others.
Step 5: Attract your Ideal Client. Your ideal client is as unique as you are.
Step 6: Your Story Becomes your Unique Products, Programs or Services. Your story—the experiences you’ve had—will help connect you with your “tribe.”
Step 7: Authentic Marketing. When you’re consistent and authentic in your marketing efforts, enough of the right people will love you. Be bold and dare to be visible with the highest expression of you.
Step 8: Unique Stories Turn Competitors into Collaborators. We all reach a slightly different audience, and some in that audience won’t perfectly resonate with us—but they might with a well-thought-out collaborative partner.
Step 9: Share your Story. Find your most aligned visibility platforms to share your message; write it, speak it, and tell it.
